Hello and welcome! I’m Natashia Wood, an international primary school educator specializing in digital literacy, inclusive teaching, and educational technology. I am currently based in Beijing, China, where I teach and mentor globally-minded learners. As a mother to a thriving neurodiverse child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), I bring both professional expertise and personal passion to every lesson, conversation, and project.
Rooted in a background that spans law, rehabilitation, engineering, and education, I have a cross-disciplinary lens that informs my work. I believe that true innovation in education comes from seeing every learner’s unique strengths, not their limitations.
I am also a lifelong traveler and polyglot, fluent in English, French, Spanish, Italian, and Mandarin. My love of exploring cultures and history has given me a unique global perspective that shapes who I am and how I teach. I strive to share this perspective with my students, empowering them to see themselves as global citizens who are curious, compassionate, and capable of making an impact.
Inclusion is not just a teaching strategy; it’s a philosophy of empowerment. My experiences as both an educator and a parent have taught me that when we prioritize accessibility, diversity, and differentiated instruction, we don't just meet needs — we unlock brilliance.
My classrooms are designed to be welcoming spaces where students with ASD, ESL learners, and young readers feel seen, heard, and valued. Through structured routines, visual supports, assistive technologies, and culturally responsive practices, I work to ensure every learner can access their highest potential.
Technology should be a bridge, not a barrier. In my classroom, EdTech is not an add-on—it’s an essential tool for expression, collaboration, and scaffolding. Whether it's using Immersive Reader to support decoding, Book Creator for multimodal storytelling, or Wordwall.net to gamify language practice, I integrate digital tools purposefully.
My goal is to cultivate digital literacy alongside language development. Students in my classroom learn to use technology ethically, creatively, and independently, preparing them to thrive in a globally connected world.
At Haidian Foreign Language Academy, I lead instruction aligned with 21st-century skills and STEAM education principles. I am pursuing my Master of Education in Elementary Education, with a strong emphasis on modernizing instruction through EdTech integration and personalized learning models.
Through my website, I am building a global hub of curated resources, reflections, and professional learning opportunities for fellow educators. My mission is to inspire teachers to embrace innovation, equity, and inclusion—no matter where they teach.
I believe:
Inclusion is innovation.
Equity is action.
Teaching is transformation.
Every child deserves a classroom where they can be their authentic, brilliant selves. Every educator deserves tools and support to build those classrooms.
